Dear Mrs. Dlott and Ms. Capalbo,
I really enjoyed hearing about how math is important in your lives. Math is important every day in my life, too. The first use of math that comes to my mind is my calendar. I would be lost without my calendar! I refer to it each and every day. Another time when I am using math is when I take poses in yoga - yes, math in yoga class! The teacher will often say something like, “Your right foot should be at 45 degrees.” or “Lean into your lunge so that your thigh is parallel to the floor.” If I didn’t understand math language such as 45 degrees or parallel, I wouldn’t be able to do yoga. There is even a pose in yoga called “triangle pose.” Thanks for helping me reflect on how important math is in my life!

Dear Mrs. Dlott and Ms. Capalbo -
What a fantastic idea to do a series about math in our lives! The carpet installer was a terrific first choice for an interview. We recently purchased a home and used math for everything - carpet, countertops, paint, and curtains. Measuring accurately is an important part of owning a home!

Dear Mrs. Dlott and Ms. Capalbo,
What a wonderful idea to share with us all the many ways in which math is important in your lives. It is very important to me too--both in school and at home. As you said in your podcast, Math is all around us! I am looking forward to your podcasts with other people who use math in their daily lives.
